Lewis Hamilton on pole for the Emilia Romagna F1 GP for his 99th pole.

Lewis Hamilton takes his 2nd pole of the 2021 seasion here in Italy, beating the Red Bulls of Sergio Pérez and Max Verstappen into second and third place.

Max Verstappen was very angry after the session ended, was not happy with his sectors, having made a mistake on the last run making contact with the grass.
Sergio Perez stormed to 2nd, having said after the session that he should have took pole from Hamilton.
 
Lando Norris could have took pole, as before he went off track he was fastest in 2nd and 3rd sectors, his lap time was removed so he starts from P7.
 
In all of his interviews and social media activity afterwards, Norris referred to how he had messed up when the McLaren team had given him a car to put him right in the mix with his Mercedes and Red Bull rivals.
